Incontinence Following Childbirth

... why a vasectomy matters
... and how Dr. Benderev can help

Dr. Benderev specializes in taking care of the precise urologic needs of couples who have completed having children. He founded Vasectomy.com in 1996. In 1994, he founded The Incontinence and Pelvic Support Institute – the first known center in the United States to bring the specialties of Urology and Gynecology into one practice.

Incontinence is the condition in which there is an involuntary loss of urine. It generally occurs following childbirth and is very common in women, being found in over 30% of all adult women in the United States1. Stress urinary incontinence is the type of incontinence that occurs all too frequently after childbirth and is characterized by the loss of urine with activites such as coughing, sneezing and exercise. There are many modes of treatment ranging from Kegel exercises to surgery. The goal with surgery is to restore the normal support of the urethra and bladder – organs that are distorted during vaginal deliveries. Of special note is that such surgical support can be damaged by any subsequent vaginal delivery and, hence, the time for surgical restoration should follow the decision by a couple to cease having further children. Dr. Benderev has hyper-specialized his urologic practice upon the performance of vasectomies for the man and correcting incontinence for women.

Dr. Benderev invites women to accompany their husbands during their consultations with him. They can learn more and ask questions about the vasectomy and, when desired, find a resource for their own needs.
